Lyla and Jemma were born prematurely at 26 weeks due to placenta failure with absent and reverse end diastolic flow (on Jemma). They were born at 2lbs and 1.5 lbs respectively. They have battled more in their short lives so far than more of us should ever have to endure. They have dealt with the struggle to breath on their own, NEC, ROP, dairy allergies, heart murmurs, heart failure, pulmonary stenosis, grade 4 brain bleeds, chronic lung disease, colon issues, and 2 blood transfusions. They are currently over 80 days in the NICU. Lyla is learning to eat from a bottle and may go home soon. Jemma is still on oxgyen support and has a very long road ahead of her.
Buying a tshirt will bring awareness to prematurity and help my little girls' future. The picture represents Lyla (lilacs) and Jemma (the gemstone) with the prematurity ribbon.
