Full story

SOLOS Survivors Of Loved Ones to Suicide is a labor of love that was envisioned after our founder, Jennifer Cagle-Huffman, lost her precious mother to suicide in 1998.Our focus and goal at SOLOS is to help others on this very unique journey know that they are not alone. SOLOS is completely peer based, this means every member (including our volunteers) have been through the loss of a loved one to suicide. Research has proven that talking about your loss is very healing, be it in a face-to-face setting or an online forum. There were close to 39,000 deaths due to suicide in the USA alone in 2014. AFSP tells us that 6 people are directly affected when a suicide loss occurs. That means 234,000 (a conservative estimate in our opinion) was directly affected by a loss to suicide in the USA alone in 2014. SOLOS hopes to reach out and support as many of those survivors as we can through our online and local suicide grief support groups. Unfortunately suicide does not discriminate based on race, religion, or social status. These are our loved ones; our mothers/fathers, sisters/brothers, husbands/wives, sons/daughters, cousins, aunts/uncles, grandparents, neighbors, co-workers, friends, military, social workers, etc. Please know if you and your family have been touched by this very unique and tragic loss, called suicide loss, you are not alone on this journey! We are here for you!
