Meg has post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD). She is a 27 year old mother and wife who suffered abuse from a very young age by someone she trusted. Simple tasks such as leaving the house or meeting new people have become very difficult situations. PTSD causes a person to have triggers and flashbacks that can occur by things she was abused for doing or not doing. When she is triggered, she tends to flashback and gets stuck in the flashback, reliving the trauma also causing other stress formed conditions such as Dissociative Identity Disorder(DID) and Conversion Disorder. DID is a trauma based disorder where a person's identity is fragmented into two or more distinct personality states. Conversion Disorder is also trauma based, it caused her brain to convert stress into physical conditions such as blindness. These conditions last as long as the stressor, or trigger continues. The dogs are trained to recognize the signs of these disorders as they begin and they help pull someone out of a flashback and help with emotion control. A PTSD dog would help her immensely, her family and friends hate seeing her suffer and battle with these issues every day.
