Full story

My husband and I started our adoption journey with CK family service in August 2019. We had our hearts and mindset to opening our home to another child. We prayed about this and asked our Lord if this was the right choice for us and asked him for his guidance, starting in January 2019.

I published my first children's book regarding adoption. This book is created with love, and it will allow my future daughter to see how much she was loved before she even came. The children's book is created for a baby-toddler little girl in May 2019.

In July, we had a horrible experience with our apartment being destroyed by mother nature that required us to move immediately. We prayed and prayed about the situation we were in, and not only did our Lord stand by our side during this whole process, but he made sure to tell me this was his plan all along. We went from 2-bedroom 2 bath apartment 950 sq. Feet to 3-bedroom 2-bathroom house 2,000 sq. Feet. It wasn't that easy. We contacted a church family member and told her our situation and everything that could possibly stop us from moving into an immediate home. Our credit wasn't the highest, and it could possibly eliminate us from moving in. However, the rental company contacted us and had two questions for us "when will you be moving in and who will be moving in" I told the rental company "I have my husband, 3 small children that will be moving in and we do plan to adopt so possibly a fourth child." One week, two weeks went by, and I thought we didn't get the house, and I figured we would need to move into a one-bedroom or go back home for a few weeks until we figure out our next move. Wednesday afternoon, we received a call from the rental agency and were advised that the owner of the house picked us out of all the applicants because we were honest, family-oriented, and he loved that we were adopting!

The Lord had his plans, and he wanted us to adopt. He wanted us to start our process and move forward with this. He loves his children, and he always provides. He surrounds me by people who understands our views and able to help us get there. Again, we were worried about our vehicle not big enough to add another child to our family and walked me to the right person to help me. I again told him my plans and the reason why I couldn't commit to such a high car note, and he managed to help me lower down my payments. That day I walked out with a new vehicle.

November 2019, we start our Adoption classes. Our mindset was only to adopt a baby or nothing older than three years. CK Family Services opened our hearts and ears that we should consider just younger children than older children need love too. Older children tend to sit in foster care longer than a younger child would. Our Lord was speaking to us again. I sat down with my husband, and we communicated on the age group, and we are on board with any age group. We believe that all children should be raised in a loving home, and age shouldn't define a placement for them. We are raising shirts to help us gather items for our daughter since we can't start shopping now for her. We are unsure of the age we will be blessed with, but we understand the Lord's purpose. We did not make these shirts personal due to also spreading awareness of adoption for ALL age groups and consider older children too!
