Aidan is a kind and loving almost 9 year old boy on the Autism spectrum. He is nonverbal but such a big personality. He has been very lucky the last few years because he has been able to attend a special needs camp near us. This experience has changed our summers for the better because he is challenged and entertained and given adventure opportunities in a group of peers he can relate to. The counselors are top notch and the ratio is nearly one on one. He comes home smiling and happily exhausted daily and is in a hurry every morning to go back.
If you know anyone Autistic you may know how the emotional attachment to events, people and things can be so few or even nonexistent. This camp for us is magical because Aidan is in love with everything about it. In fact, he’s been trying to get us to take him there since November. This bond is real and I’d do anything to keep him going every summer for as long as possible.
This camp is very expensive and while we as a family cut back on frivolous things so he can go, these shirts last year ensured he was able to attend the entire summer season. That would not have happened without your love and support. This year Aidan had a hand in choosing which of his favorite things we featured on his shirt design. We hope you enjoy it!
