Bethanie Audrey Marie Fournier, BAMF if you will, is the sweetest tiny two-year-old you will ever encounter, and yet she has a dark side; an equal and fierce wolverine of a fighter whose bad side is better left to hibernate. She packs a tremendous character and spunk into her small stature. All who meet her can attest to her fierce attitude and spirit.
We had no idea how long the Leukemia had been there and didn't know anything was wrong until her body finally said: "NOPE, I'm done." It all started with a night of fevers and vomiting. That week she progressively got worse, and the doctors had no idea what was wrong. Six days of being bedridden, we had enough, I took her to the Phoenix Children's Hospital Emergency Room where they did a battery of tests.
I knew something was wrong when the doctor walked in with tears in his eyes. My stomach sank, my heart felt heavy, and a deep pain overcame my fight to keep a dry eye. Tears rolled down my face when the doc said her white blood cells were consistent with Leukemia, and we wouldn't have a diagnosis until a bone marrow biopsy was done to confirm.
A couple of days later, we received our diagnosis, and from that day forward, our lives were changed.
Bethanie has been a fighter her whole life. Cancer will not defeat us! As comfortable as we try to make it for her, she is still in a tremendous amount of pain and misery. We will continue to do what we can for her, but we could use your support in keeping her as comfortable as possible.
