Join us on September 22 at 9AM for the St. Louis Congenital Heart Walk!!
Brielle was born in May 2017 with a prenatally diagnosed congenital heart defect - unbalanced av canal with small left heart structures, coarctation of the aorta and a cleft/parachute mitral valve. Coming into the world at 9 lbs 2 oz., Brielle was a fighter from the beginning! Now at 15 months old, she defines what it means to be a heart warrior. She spent 99 days in the hospital at birth, received CPR twice, developed an infection in her sternum that required a wound vac and a debridement in the operating room, traveled to Boston for open heart surgery twice, had a g-tube surgically placed, had three heart catheterizations, three open heart surgeries with bypass and one heart surgery through her back, went through two complete switches in her body's circulation, and spent more than three consecutive weeks on a ventilator.
On June 26, 2017, at 13 months and three days old, she was discharged from Boston Children's Hospital with a REPAIRED HEART!!!
OH HAPPY DAY!!!
Congenital heart defects require a lifetime of care. Brielle has mild mitral regurgitation that is being treated with medication. She also has developmental delays and is still fed through her g-tube. She continues to make amazing progress with therapy!
Please help us honor her courageous battle by proudly wearing your Big Little Adventure swag! 100% of the proceeds will go to The Children's Heart Foundation.
THANK YOU!
