Hawkwatch sites exist across the United States to study trends in raptor populations during migration. The Cut Bank Hawkwatch is situated at a unique prairie site in Montana where birds such as the Rough-legged Hawk (on the shirt) fly past on their way to their breeding grounds in the arctic in spring or back to their wintering grounds in the northern half of the United States in fall. The money from this campaign will go directly towards funding a raptor observer at the site this fall. Increasing our knowledge of raptor migration through hawkwatch site research is important for raptor conservation.
