Full story
In 2016, Ebony Miranda, an organizer of the Womxn's March Seattle, proposed using "womxn" rather than "women" as the organizers of the March sought to welcome and include non cis-gender individuals who are affected by misogyny. Miranda's understanding of the word is "women and those affected by misogyny, or women-related issues."
In 2019, DFSO adopted "womxn" into our organizational language to demonstrate that we are committed to serving all who are affected by misogyny and other intersecting forms of oppression.
As the nature of oppression is intersectional, so is DFSO's support of all womxn we serve. Dress for Success Oregon is committed to removing barriers to equal access for all womxn, with the knowledge that womxn's race, color, sexual orientation, gender expression, ability, and any number of other identities affect their lived experiences.
During the 2020 Pride month, we want your support to empower ALL womxn to overcome barriers to stability and socioeconomic equity. Wear your support, and know that the dollars raised from the sales of this merchandise go directly toward serving all womxn in our community.
