Hi Everyone! Thank you SO much for being incredible enough to click into this post and consider donating to such a life changing and amazing cause.
My name is Giana Postiglione. I am still a fairly "new" Boston resident... and if there is one thing I have learned from the last year I have lived here, it is that 'Bostonians' have this heart and soul that they truly incorporate into all they do. I have been fortunate and blessed enough to witness such amazing love in and for this city and the people who live here. What better way to be a part of this city than running in their beloved Boston Marathon?!
Last year, I watched the person I love most run the Boston Marathon for Doug Flutie and FINISH. Alex's determination to run for a cause so close to his heart was truly inspirational to me. I was mesmerized and moved by the dedication and love he has for The Doug Flutie Foundation. I've witnessed him be the best "big brother" there can be to his younger brother, Thomas who has Autism. It is because of Alex's unconditional love for "T", that my eyes have been opened to everything life has to offer - to all that exists that is a blessing in disguise. He's allowed me to see things differently. Being with Alex has made me truly recognize the importance of living for something and someone other than yourself; and what it means to push yourself to your fullest potential.
Today, it is Alex I am running for. It is to thank him for all he has taught me about life in the time I've known him (whether he knows it or not). It is for our brother and forever friend, Thomas; his love for Trains and Walt Disney, and it is to celebrate the fact that this life is worth living in every way we know how.
I am here to thank YOU for encouraging me and supporting the Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism. This foundation is making a real change - is making people like me take a step back and recognize WHY they are here. I know now why I am here. I'm here to be the best version of myself I can possibly be, to support others and to love others unconditionally. I have certain people to thank for that, and luckily this foundation has suddenly become a very big part of my life. By donating to this cause know that you are not only helping and encouraging families like ours but families affected by Autism across the country who crave your love and support.
Any amount is greatly appreciated and makes a bigger impact than you think. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me and believing in Dougie and Thomas. We can't cure Autism, but we sure as hell can do what we can to make sure people with Autism live their life to their greatest potential - as I am living mine, as you should live yours!
Here goes nothing...
All my love,
Giana
