Thunder and Lightning (named because it was storming bad when we found them) were found on the stoop of the Glenwood Independent Baptist Church in Marion, NC at 11:30pm on October 26th. They were taken to REACH Veterinary Specialists in Asheville, NC as Thunder needed immediate care.

Thunder was diagnosed with a broken femur and several older puncture wounds, they believe she was hit by a car. She requires surgery to place pins in her leg to repair her femur.

Lightning was accessed and had a minor puncture wound injury which he received pain medication and antibiotics for. Day One Animal Rescue graciously found a foster for him but he will still need to be neutered and vaccinated.

As of their discharge from REACH Veterinary Specialists their medical care totaled $872.26 for Thunder and $129.80 for Lightning. REACH was gracious enough to give us a Good Samaritan discount that is reflected on the receipt.
The total for her 4 day stay and surgery at Andes-Straley Vet hospital was $2097. We determined it was best for her to stay at the vet until surgery for optimal pain management.

Normally I would try and cover it myself without asking for help, but this past year has been financially pressing, including; graduate school, a crushed storage building and other storm damage, treating a semi-feral cat I fostered for feline infectious anemia, 14 cats/kitten that I personally vetted and adopted out, and helping a friend try and save his cat who unfortunately passed from FIP.
