Full story
On July 22, 2018, the Xepian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam in Attapeu Province of Southern Laos collapsed. The collapse, reportedly, resulted in flash flooding which overwhelmed eight villages, swept away houses, displaced around 7,000 people and killed at least 20 villagers.
Disaster response activities are currently ongoing, with foreign aid and volunteers coming in from neighboring countries. However, the heavy rainfall and poor phone signals have been hindering the rescue efforts. There is still much work to be done.
In response to this tragedy, you can help with the relief efforts through Radion International, a non-profit organization with a presence in Laos, who is currently responding to the disaster.
Please join us in the effort to help the people of Laos find hope and restore what they have lost.
