Isla del Renacimiento (Island of the Renaissance)
I created a new design in order to raise funds towards the aid of many communities devastated in the aftermath of the earthquake events currently happening in Puerto Rico. It depicts a girl (representing the Puerto Rican people) painting over the cracks (located at the most affected area on the island) and turning them into flowers, as a way of symbolizing of the rebuild and rebirth of Puerto Rico.
Starting at the end of December 2019, the southwestern part of the island has been struck by an earthquake swarm; the most damaging of the earthquakes occurred on January 7th, 2020 with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Ritcher scale.
The damage was extensive and, by January 14th, more than 8000 people were homeless, camping outdoors in various types of shelters. In the city on Ponce alone, 40,000 others have been camping outside their homes. Some of these communities were still rebuilding from hurricane Maria (2017).
Now. instead of donating these funds to one single charity, our donation will go to different communities that were extremely affected by the earthquake. The list of these communities is submitted at "Suministro Puerto Rico", an independent non-profit organization where small groups from different towns like Guánica, Yauco, Guayanilla, ponce and many more are gathering supplies to help those in need.
Help us rebuild, and be part of the Renaissance of my beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
