Landfill Harmonic is a film that began production in 2010. It chronicles the people of Cateura, Paraguay. Much of the land in Cateura is used as a landfill for the nearby capital. The residents are some of the poorest people in the Americas. But their story changed one day when a resident started picking through garbage for a different purpose. Along with a local music teacher, they began assembling makeshift instruments out of trash. They formed the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura and have since toured the world. Their journey has given hope to the children of this impoverished city.
Proceeds from this campaign will go to the Creative Visions Foundation, which is raising money for the completion of Landfill Harmonic. The film will continue to spread the story of the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura as well as offer a different perspective on garbage and the environment. The filmmakers plan to give a portion of the proceeds to the people of Cateura.
