About six months ago my step dad, Larry, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He lives with my mom, her name is Nina, and she is his sole caretaker. When he was first diagnosed, the physician that was treating him told him that the cancer was treatable and wanted him to participate in numerous treatments. After the first treatment of radiation, the cancer seem to be shrinking which was good, but after so many treatments of radiation, there is a resting period. Going back to restart the treatments for the second round, they found the tumors were growing, and he tried two or three more treatment options that were offered, but he had the same results everytime. My mom was concerned because nothing this doctor had done helped Larry. So my mom made him an appointment to see another doctor to hopefully get answers. This doctor informed my parents that the previous doctor had been telling them lies. The tumors were bigger, he had more develop and there was no cure. This devasted my family.
This is the reason I have started this fund for him. My mom, like I stated earlier, is his sole caretaker and she is diabled herself. The only income she has is social security and can barely make ends meet. It would be a blessing to see the look on my moms face when I hand her the money that has been generated by caring people as yourself.
