I have been doing a lot of research for places to adopt through. While going through DFS has little to no cost, there is a really long waiting list for parents seeking a child under the age of three. DFS also tries to get families to adopt older children and/or so long groups.
I am not closing that door completely but if I can raise the money to adopt privately, there is a much lower chance of special needs, trauma, and siblings. With how much trauma and soecial needs that I work with on a daily basis, it would be extremely difficult to come to that as well.
