WAGR is a rare genetic condition that affects both boys and girls and there are about only 450 people in the entire world with this diagnosis. Babies born with WAGR syndrome often have eye problems and are at high risk for developing certain types of cancer and a range of development delays. The term "WAGR" stands for the first letters of the physical and mental problems associated with the condition.
IWSA, International WAGR Syndrome Association, serves as a source of hope, support, and information, so you don't have to face the diagnosis on your own. More importantly, it is their desire to celebrate the joy, love, and courage our loved one with WAGR/11P deletions give to us.
National Rare Disease Day takes place on the last day of February each year. Rare Disease Day promotes awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' and families' lives.
