After getting the opportunity to compete for a National title last year I wanted to work even harder this year and bring a stronger package than I did before. Pageantry is something that only recently became a passion of mine. I've always been competetive but last year it all changed.
I am a former resident of several different states now. Nebraska is my home state and is where I was born. Florida is where I lived for about 4 years and where my drag career began. Missouri was a place of residence for a very short time (about 6 months). Now I reside in the Sooner state, Oklahoma. Now Missouri was going to remain my home for a while, or so I thought.
After competing for Miss Nebraska USofA Newcomer last year (since Missouri didn't have a prelim) I got the chance to compete in Dallas for Miss USofA Newcomer. Last year I decided last minute to compete for said pageant. It was always in the back of my mind to do but never thought I would take it seriously. After some coercing from several different people in two weeks time I managed to find some sponsors for the pageant and won the talent category.
I didn't place in the top two but the Nebraska promoters wanted to take all of us who competed. In 6 weeks time we were gonna be heading down to Dallas, Texas for Miss USofA Newcomer. Now, the pageant itself had many ups and downs. I stumbled and placed 41st out of 50. I wasn't happy with my placement if I am being honest, but it was an experience I wouldn't change for the world. I learned so much from that experience that I use to this day and everyday.
Now, prior to Nationals my biological father had reached out to me and mentioned he was planning on getting me a car. After not being in communication for 20 years it was a wake up call that seemed too good to be true. Well sure enough he helped me get the car and my promoter from Miss Nebraska USofA Newcomer even helped me get there. After a long drive and finally arriving back in Kansas City I was mere days away from heading down to Nationals. After getting no communication for an entire day from my dresser I reached out to my Newcomer sisters and they all gracisouly pitched in some money for me to make my trip down.
After arriving and competing I was on my way home when my promoter had asked if I could pick him up on the way back home from Oklahoma City. Well after not being able to find him I stayed the night with a friend and continued my track back north the next morning. I got about an hour north of OKC and my car started wobbling and jerking so I pulled off onto an exit. Thankfully I was fine but as I was headed up the exit my tire and all the mechanics underneath welded together and shot out.
I was stuck and only knew three people in the entire state of Oklahoma. One of them and his roommate graciously allowed me to stay with them. After many a roadblock I am now a permanent resident of Oklahoma and love it dearly. I get to perform at least two times a week. Sometimes even more!!!
Now I am competing for Miss Iron Throne USofA Newcomer on March 15th and Miss Rising Star USofA Newcomer date TBD. Pageants are not cheap BUT in the Newcomer system we are only allowed three consecutive years to compete. Last year was my first year and I don't quit easily (or usually ever). I am only guesstimating the cost of these items as I am unsure specific prices but these estimates are based on what I spent last year:
Interview Clothing: ~$100
- Presentation (non-judged category)~$50+?
I really want to show who I am as an entertainer this year and really show everybody why I deserve the crown. I am coming to bring it and nobody is stopping me. I will update everything in regards to my merch, my package, etc...
