Full story
All of us could use a refuge. A space that encourages honest reflection, where we can relax and share with one another, where we can grow. Refugees in particular need such a space. Many bear the scars of violence, not only phsyically but also in their hearts and minds.
At Owl & Panther, we provide a safe and nurturing space where refugee families can find healing in community. We use a trauma-sensitive approach to ensure healing-centered engagement. Our expressive arts program in particular offers arts-based activities that emphasize prioritizing the process over the product while incorporating values of inclusion and acceptance.
We are currently serving refugee families originally from Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the past we have served refugee families originally from Bhutan, Afghanistan, Mali, Iraq, Mexico, Bosnia, Cameroon, Guatemala, Somalia, Mauritania, Zimbabwe, Honduras, El Salvador and Uganda.
Together we build strong bonds and connections that ultimately help the refugee families we serve gain all they need to thrive in their new home here in the United States.
