The Trump administration is seeking to eliminate the word “gender” from UN human rights documents, as part of their campaign to define transgender people out of existence. For example, in a draft paper on trafficking in women and girls introduced by Germany and the Philippines earlier this month, the US wants to remove phrases such as “gender-based violence”. This would exclude trans people from the protections we so desperately need against transphobic violence and hate crimes.
Trans people need protection right now, and I decided this cool trans version of Captain America's shield (made using the Sketch app by Sony) is a nice little visual representation to show that you support the protection of trans folks!
The money from this will go to trans organisations such as the National Centre for Transgender Equality, the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, Trans Women of Color Collective and Trans Lifeline. Money will also be donated to crowdfunds for individual trans people for things such as surgeries, name changes and gender marker changes.
