Help women survivors tell their stories about domestic violence and sexual assault through the project Rage
This campaign is closed. Send a message to the creator of this fundraiser and ask them to relaunch it.
Rage is a photography project by San Antonio photographer, Gina Davison. She is photographing black and white portraits of women who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault. As a victim of abuse, Gina was called to use her art to speak out and to give other women a voice to do so as well. Women are often not believed or told to not stir the pot, but silence only benefits the perpetrator. She captures the emotion of the women as they tell their stories in front of the camera to convey the pain and anger they struggle with after their trauma. It is a pain and an anger that is being transformed into healing and justice through Rage.
Domestic violence and sexual assault continue to be a problem in our country. The statistics are grim. Nearly 1 in 4 women have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner. 1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted within her lifetime. in 8 out of 10 cases of rape, the victim will know the perpetrator.
The sales of this t-shirt will be used to help cover the costs associated with the project and to give as many women who want to participate a chance to tell their stories. Their photos will be on display next fall in an exhibit in San Antonio, Texas. They will also be published in a book that will be available in late 2020 as well.
