Founded in 2019, Scivias Medieval Ensemble brings historically informed medieval music to local venues within Rochester, NY. With artistic director Dr. Heather Holmquest at the helm, the group programs and performs concerts that highlight the breadth and beauty of music from the 12th and 13th centuries.
This fundraising campaign has two main aims:
1. To cover costs associated with venue rental for the 2021-2022 season - Scivias will be rehearsing and performing at Asbury First United Methodist Church, and funds raised will help the group to pay space rental fees to support this season's programming needs.
2. To finance the future purchase of a hurdy gurdy - While Scivias is primarily a vocal ensemble, much of the music that the group performs would benefit from the addition of this medieval instrument. The group hopes to contract with a craftsman who specializes in medieval instruments to purchase the hurdy gurdy.
Any extra funds raised will go toward future programming plans and community outreach events.
