Many young women today that are interested in getting involved in politics and government are highly encouraged to complete internships. Many of these internships at places like Capitol Hill or home offices of members of Congress are unpaid. Because of this, we have seen a huge disparity in students that can afford to accept these unpaid internships. For many, it is impossible to work for free. She Votes aims to help close this gap and sponsor at least 2 young women in the summer of 2020 as they complete an unpaid government internship and gain valuable professional experience they wouldn't have otherwise been able to afford.
