Some of you know our mom, Sheila.... We have been pretty private about what is going on lately, but it's time to share and ask for mom's army to stand by her right now. Around the end of October, beginning of November, mom got sick. The Dr's chalked this up to her pre-existing Diverticulitis problems. Then, as she progressively had more issues, they assumed she had a kidney infection. By November 7, mom had lost over 10lbs and ended up Jaundiced and in the hospital. After a week stay there, and tons of tests, she was sent to Hershey for more tests. The day before Thanksgiving, she got a call that nobody would EVER wants... "You have Cancer." She was immediately set up with an Oncology Surgeon and an Oncologist at Hershey Cancer Institute. She has Pancreatic Cancer, luckily we caught it early and it is only Stage 1. However, it has really taken a toll already. While I am sure she may not be thrilled about me putting all of this out there, we needed to do something. Mom has been out of work Since November, and anyone who knows her has to know how difficult that is for her. Our mom is a warrior, a go-getter... Nothing slows her down. So right now, not being able to fully fend for herself is a very difficult thing for her to face or accept. She is doing alright, she is fighting the fight, receiving Chemo while she fights to get rid of the cancer cells so she can have the surgery she needs to remove the mass on her Pancreas. In the meantime, Social Security will take 5 months to kick in and send payments. Fudge is working as much as he can, Casey and I are doing what we can... But they will need help. Medical bills are expensive, and yes, we have applied for help. These things take time, and you just never know how much you actually need until you are in this horrible position. Little expenses add up-groceries, gas to go to and from appointments, new clothes for the weight loss, bills, etc... Our mom is an amazing woman who would do anything to help others, she is a caregiver, a fighter, a mother and grandmother, a girlfriend... She is so much to everyone who is blessed enough to know her. And whether she gets upset about this or not, I personally want to do anything in my power to help life some of the weight off of her shoulders and I know that there are many others out there who feel the same. There are no words for what she and our family are going through now, but one thing is for sure. We know she is not alone, and sometimes, as hard as it may be, you just have to ask for help. So here it is... Our call to mama's army of loved ones, friends, family, near and far... Please help bring mom back a little peace of mind... One less thing to worry about so that she can focus on just kicking this Cancer's butt! Share, share, share... Give back to a woman who constantly gives to others selflessly... She has so much yet ahead of her to look forward to, we don't want her stuck focused on finances. Thank you to all who share, donate, or even just send good vibes, well wishes and prayers...
