Full story
Today many lgbtq clergy, lay people, and youth wonder if they can still call our church their home. As a pastor I especially ache for our youth, who are sometimes caused to wonder if they are some mistake God made that must be fixed.
Your purchase of this tee shirt does two things:
1.) A portion of the purchase goes to Camp Beloved (https://www.facebook.com/MichiganCampBeloved/), a camp for lgbtq students and allies held at Lake Louise Christian Community in northern Michigan. Please contact Rev. Mark Thompson from Lansing Central UMC for more information at [email protected].
2.) If you are a clergy or lay representative, you are invited to wear your shirt to the Michigan Annual Conference at Traverse City, Saturday, June 2.
I know this can be a hard thing for some people, to speak up or get involved. I am setting up this campaign because one of my lgbtq teens tried committing suicide this year and another suffers from social anxiety. I am doing this for my three year old daughter, because I want her to grow up in a church that welcomes all people. I am doing this because young people like these don't have a voice, and I am giving them mine.
Order quickly to get it BEFORE annual conference. The campaign will continue past this to raise funds for Camp Beloved.
You can contact me (Rev. Dr. Vaughn W. Thurston-Cox) at [email protected]. I serve Mulliken United Methodist Church.
