We are the Borderline Bunch, a team participating in the 2023 NAMIWalks event in North Carolina on May 20. We are fundraising for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. NAMIWalks promotes awareness of mental health, raises funds for NAMI’s free, top-rated programs, and builds community by letting people know they are not alone.
We are walking to raise awareness for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), which affects nearly 2% of the US population. BPD is a serious condition marked by difficulties regulating emotion. This means that people who experience BPD feel emotions intensely and for extended periods of time, and it is harder for them to return to a stable baseline after an emotionally triggering event. This difficulty can lead to impulsivity, poor self-image, stormy relationships and intense emotional responses to stressors, which can sometimes include self-injurious and suicidal behavior.
We are dedicated to speaking out about mental health and educate others to fight against the stigma of mental illness.
