Full story
Hey yall! My name is Elizabeth and I am a rising senior at Horizon High School. I have decided to go on a mission trip gap year for 9 months before attending college (in some ways you could say I am taking the easy way out lol). I have been asked why I want to go on a long term mission trip to third world countries many times. I mean, I will be bathing in buckets, sleeping outside, washing my clothes in a river, only getting to change into clean clothes once a week, and overall, I'll just be really uncomfortable. I'll be living with total strangers, and honestly, I have no idea how that is gonna go. But, despite the scariness of the journey I am about to embark on, I'm also going to get to experience some incredible things. On my trip, I'll get to help lead sermons, worship, and Bible study. But speaking wasn't all who Jesus was, Jesus lived and led by His actions, and so must I. I will be helping to pour concrete, build homes, repair churches and various buildings, pulling weeds, planting flowers, making meals for the community, painting, doing others laundry and so much more. This will be anything but a nice relaxing vacation. But good thing is, a vacation is not what I want, I want to be so uncomfortable that being uncomfortable becomes my new comfortable. I love Jesus and I love people, and to be a leader, to be follower of Christ, you must be a servant to those around you, just as He was. In order to go on this trip, I must fundraise $16,000 by September of 2022. This is a lot of money, and I need all the support I can get, so I created The Mission to help me out. I love the idea of "groovy" so that was my inspiration. I would be beyond thankful for your help! :)
