A sanitary pad campaign initiated by Ms. Tariqa Ismail and is supported by a local Community Based Organisation called The Mwembeni Welfare, family and some individual volunteers. This campaign is aiming to eradicate period poverty and shame in the Urban Mombasa, A beautiful sunny, touristic and historic island in the East Coast of Africa. Girls and women are victims of cultural taboo and stigma in regards to topics of mentsruation, and this initiative is intending to break the silence via disposable sanitary pad distributions, mentrual hygiene management sensitization and advise on methods of disposal.
