Black business owners are facing these obstacles. Of the $98.2 billion that the federal government awarded in contracts to small businesses in 2012, businesses owned by black people won just 7.2 percent despite being 13 percent of the population, a fall of about 1 percent from the year before and 6.5 percent from 2010. These drops are likely due to the budget cuts that have shrunk the overall pie.

Black workers don’t fare much better if they decide not to start their own businesses and work for someone else’s. Employers often hire people they know who tend to be the same race as them. While Black-Americans have faced an elevated unemployment rate during the recession and recovery, it’s part of a longer story, as their unemployment rate is always at least 60 percent higher than for whites and since 1972, it has been over 10 percent more than three-quarters of the time.

 Thanks for your interest, time, and consideration in joining our professional team. We're among the first organizations dedicated to the support of Black American businesses. Our goal is to help create opportunities and break the cycle of poverty. Our first goal is to raise a (''$1,000,000.00''), together, I do believe that this can be accomplished. We are seeking support from our friends, family, community, and other diversified professional businesses that are willing to contribute to our campaign cause.  We are asking at least 10000  people to consider a gift of $100.00 each ? We will then, have accomplished our first goal of  " $1,000,000.00".  Once this goal is completed, we will be on our way towards success.  We are hoping to establish at least 5-10 diverse successful black owned businesses, that will eventually attract more. We estimate creating 50-100 new jobs, possibly more which will boost our economy . Your donations will help establish a legal non-profit 501(c)(3) business organization, cover professional office space, legal documentations, operation expenses, purchase office equipment, office supplies, staff salaries and provide start up loans for new and existing black businesses. Professional instructors will be employed to train, and provide guidance throughout the process.  We will require each recipient to complete business classes in order to develop, and achieve a well prepared business plan ("free of charge").  Upon completion, there will be a written agreement, for a specified period of time that each individual business will be asked to sign to donate back (''interest free'') the total funds distributed among them in order for The United Negro Business Fund to benefit future additional businesses for many years to come.
