The We're All Mammals Project was inspired by a couple of Chesney's nieces, Eve and Felicity. Eve was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome; resulting in the loss of two of her limbs while in utero. Felicity was infected with Cytomegalovirus while in utero which resulted in the development of Cerebral Palsy. One day, when Eve was around three years old, she was in Target with her mom. Eve was very aware of all the people looking at her and was getting very upset. Her mom calmed her down in a side isle, but shortly another melt down was about to happen. Instead of crying, Eve threw her one hand in the air and yelled, “C’mon guys! We’re all mammals!” The crowd heard this and realized she was right and went about their own business.
Chesney’s mission is to raise awareness for universal acceptance for people who are differently abled. She is passionate about advocating for those who might not be able to advocate for themselves and is a firm believer that no person, despite their differences or challenges, is less. Help Chesney raise enough funds to share this message at Mrs. America and then go on to share it nationwide as she goes to schools and teaches kids and adults the importance of respect for our peers.
