This T-shirt idea came to me one day when I was feeling frustrated and angry at the labels and definitions that were being handed to me for my daughter Cove. I had so many thoughts. I started second-guessing all I was doing to help her reach her greatest potential. I did, for a split second, think about how much easier it would be to except what these labels were telling me and just stop moving forward. To take “what we’ve got” as the finish line. I looked at Cove and saw the fire in her eyes and remembered all we have worked for this past year. I remembered The story of the duckling transforming into the swan. I felt a rising up inside of me again and I felt the energy, passion, and fight return to my heart. We will not settle – look at her – she has defied so much already. Labels, terms, opinions of what cove's life could/should look like does not define her. She and I get to choose her outcome and her capabilities. She gets to write her own story along side the father, not circumstance. It’s beautiful and it’s always changing it might not always look like what I think it should but I am learning that’s OK. I am learning the true power that comes from transformation (mind ,heart and body). It’s all worth it! No matter where you are, what your battles are, or what others say will define you, you have the choice to write your own story wherever you are, right now.
My hope is that every time you wear this shirt that you would feel empowered to write change or trade in your story for something greater, for something your heart desires. We are brave. We are strong. We are capable. Our story is worth writing and living out.
