I am a 17 year old freshman in college, I am truly hoping to go to the Dominican Republic over spring break with the Christian Student Center but I need HELP! I really hope I get the chance to serve!!

I have had a very diverse religious back ground in that I have attended many different Christian denominational churches in my life time, all of which I have such fond feelings towards. However, due to the hopping from church to church with my mom, I was never given the opportunity to go overseas to worship and serve others in a mission style trip. Since I have been in college, I am studying to be a Biochemical Engineer in hopes that I can work in the pharmaceutical research field to help, even in the slightest of ways, move our society closer to cures and medicines for those illnesses that take from too many their life and happiness. A real passion of mine is serving others and I feel that until I am equipped to do so in the scientific field, I should take every opportunity to do in my everyday life. This said, I know a mission trip is not neccessarily vital to a young Christian servant's growth, but I feel as though I am ready to embark on this trip and learn of the struggles of others. College is a time to be influenced and I truly hope this trip provides great inspiration and insight for the rest of my life.
I will travel with a group of approximately 15 other college students and we will be spending a week in the DR. We will spend most of our time in Rio San Juan and will be helping out at the Children's Home and Manna School. There we will be connecting with children and giving them much needed love and attention as well as teaching them songs of worship and lessons of the Word. We will also be doing much manual labor as the school has many repairs and tasks that we will be assigned to. Last year, the group tore up some old weeds and bushes and paved a patio as well as repainting most of the school.
Overall I am very excited for this trip and truly hope you will aid me in my endeavor! Even the smallest donation is truly helpful!
