The Birth of Wife UP

                      by Charmayne Carter

I'm a newlywed; my husband and I were married on April 4, 2015.  Since we started pre-marital counseling in 2014 we were under attack every month--my house was robbed twice and I missed my bridal shower!  When we returned from our honeymoon, my brother was incarcerated and my husband's work hours were significantly reduced.  I struggled, battled with our depression, yet tried to be a supportive, newly wedded wife.

I felt ALONE, but God helped me look beyond my solitude.  I wondered if there were other women who felt like me, who were going through their own difficulties alone and needed a safe space to be encouraged. I longed for a place where we can bridge the gap between new and experienced wives, between happy and hurting wives. God gave me the vision of Wife UP because I needed you!  Although I may not know you (yet), I need you.  This is not an accident; we need one another!

When I shared this idea with my pastor, George W. Hawkins and Sharlene Hawkins from High Calling Ministries, they supported me every step of the way in building the Wife UP Facebook Group and launching the Wife UP Challenge. I am so grateful to my pastor, first lady and to you, Wife UP, for being part of this movement!
